Mission Statement:Cordrey Charities is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and sharing the joys and rewards of gardening and living among plants with all members of our community. We do this by providing education, motivation, and inspiration through classroom programs, gardening classes and demonstrations, guest speakers, the creation of healing gardens, and other projects and programs. We are also committed to helping our community better understand the direct relationship between a healthy lifestyle and the incorporation of plants in one’s life. Our fund is supported by fundraising efforts, grants, and donations and will help develop the gardens of tomorrow by teaching gardeners today.

Cordrey Charities' first program has begun. We are working with 2nd grade teachers at Millsboro Elementary School on a program set to launch in January, 2013, when each 2nd grader will be given an aloe plant along with information about caring for their plants as well as about all of the uses of aloe in our everyday lives. The students will be responsible for taking care of their plants and will attend a special assembly during the spring of 2013 when prizes will be awarded to students whose plants have fared well throughout the winter.

Our' inaugural fundraiser took place on September 29, 2012 when 170 people participated in the 1st Annual Corn to Run, a 5K run/walk, held throughout a cornfield across the road from East Coast Garden Center. It was wonderful to see so many people participate in the run to support Cordrey Charities' programs! The Run was followed by East Coast Garden Center's Annual Harvest Fest which also raised funds to help meet the goals outlined in our mission statement.
